brick-a-brack 03/11/10

  • the ridiculous prudish literal mindedness of Christians around the world has once again been proven by the reaction to Skosana's sermon "Jesus had HIV."  Also interesting to note the African Christologies coming through in some of the discussion, Jesus the heavenly power is very important in that context, but a frail human Jesus is a source of suspicion.

    I feel a little embarrassed now. I blogged on the Jesus HIV story and admitted to being too prudish (I actually used that term) to post the title.

    Oh well.

    Hi Stuart, well the comment wasn't aimed specifically at you, but you've got to ask yourself why you felt that way?

    Surely the message that Jesus identifies with and cares about those with HIV is nothing to be ashamed of? The God of the Bible doesn't seem to be embarrassed about sex so why are Christians afraid to mention anything below the belt?

    Totally agree, I'm not sure what it was about the title, but the message itself is right.

    ps wouldn't have mattered if the comment was aimed specifically at me, it's good to be challenged! And I do feel challenged by all of this.
